Each N-Level in Electrical Engineering N4-N6 takes eleven weeks (approximately three months). Grade 11s may be admitted into N3 Level. To be admitted into N4 level, grade 12 or N3 is a requirement. One can proceed to the next level only when the previous level has been successfully completed. On successful completion of each level the candidate will be issued with a National Certificate by The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), Quality assured by TheQuality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). It is recommended that students enrolling on the National N4 Certificate programme complete the N5 and N6 as well as the 18-month workplace experiential training in order to qualify for the National Diploma. Students can then enter into either a University of Technology to complete a degree qualification or into a workplace that requires the qualification. Registrations are on going.
The Electrical Engineering field of study consists of two main fields, namely Electrical Heavy Current and Electrical Light Current. At Whitestone College we offer Electrical Engineering heavy current and light current. There are three levels N4 to N6. Each level runs for a semester and consists of four subjects. The subjects are: Electrotechnology, Industrial Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering Science.
The NATED N4-N6 Engineering qualification is designed to provide the theoretical component in order for you to attain a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering. The practical component comprises of 24 months (2000 working hours) of work experience relevant to your trade.
The Department of Higher Education will issue you with a National Certificate once you have passed each level eg. N4, N5, N6. After completing your work experience you can apply for your National Diploma from the DHET at the campus where you have completed your N6 qualification.

Grade 12 Pass with Mathematics and Science. Grade 11s pass may be accepted into N3 level or lower.
