The Department of Media Studies at Whitestone College offers Advertising and Journalism courses. The department offers two full qualifications and a number of short courses.
Media Studies department is accredited by Media, Information and Communication Technologies (MICTSETA) accreditation number LPA/00/2011/07/077. It is designed to allow students to explore different forms of the media, to analyse and understand how they are set and operate. The syllabus combines practical and theoretical study. During the period of study, you will have opportunity to produce your own media product.
Course description:
Journalism is a career for life that’s constantly evolving and can take you around the world working in exciting roles. This course is a 1-year program designed to meet the essential practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed for a career in journalism.
The course equips students with advanced research, writing, reporting and analytical skills for print, television, video, radio, audio and online media; and knowledge of the intellectual, ethical and political foundations of journalism.
