The Department of Media Studies at Whitestone College now offers Advertising and Journalism courses. The department offers two full qualifications and a number of short courses. Media Studies department is accredited by Media, Information and Communication Technologies (MICTSETA) accreditation number LPA/00/2011/07/077. It is designed to allow students to explore different forms of the media, to analyse and understand how they are set and operate. The syllabus combines practical and theoretical study. During the period of study, you will have opportunity to produce your own media product.

Course description:

This is a one-year program that provides an overview on all elements of advertising. This course covers all aspects of advertising across different areas and you will develop knowledge and skills on advertising in the diverse communications industries which are the print, broadcast and social media. You’ll also learn creative evaluation, media planning, campaign development and strategy planning. On completion of the program, you’ll be ready for professional communication and media roles in advertising and promotional agencies, or consultancies and other organizations (business, government and non-profit) which use advertising to achieve their goals.
