Community Health Work Level 2

Course Description:

This Qualification will equip the learner with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively perform the Ancillary Health Care function. The Core Unit Standards consist of competencies relevant to assisting in various spheres of health care projects to achieve health care objectives, examining the effects of fatigue in the workplace, understanding and applying the principles of primary health care to projects within a community, including participating in health promotion activities, providing information about HIV and AIDS and treatment options, providing information about Tuberculosis, first aid procedures. Further the learner will assist in the establishment of good nutrition programmes and assist the community in accessing services according to their health related human rights.
To be awarded the Qualification, learners are required to obtain a minimum of 140 credits. The modules are Numeracy, Communication,

Course Description:

Learners who complete this qualification will have a better self and social awareness and will possess a range of thinking and problem solving skills. In addition, they will possess the competence required to perform community health functions in a complex developing world context. They will have the skills required for employment by a range of health, social and other sector employers and will be in possession of a recognised qualification.
Qualified learners in this field will provide a service that will assist communities to better manage their own health and wellness. They will have the skills to work as team members and as providers of support services within a multi-disciplinary health care team. Practitioners will generally carry out their role within the context of the client’s home, a community care centre and/or the broader community

Ancillary Health Care : First Aider

First Aider:

It embeds the student with all the knowledge and practical experience required for a first aid officer. We also this course as corporate training course, which through the NSF (National Skills Fund) are able to empower their employees and beneficiaries with these first aid skills. Organisations are able to claim back tax for this programme from their SDL (Skills Development Levy) contributions.

Ancillary Health Care : HIV and AIDS (HAST)

Course Description:

HIV and AIDS course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to deal with HIV/AIDS in different care & counseling. The course offers participants the opportunity to: disseminate correct and relevant information on HIV/AIDS in the community; facilitate the breakdown of negative attitudes, stereotypes and misconceptions about HIV/AIDS; promote HIV/AIDS prevention strategies in the community; counsel clients on various HIV/AIDS aspects; provide pre- and post-HIV test counseling.

The course also aims to provide employees in the workplace a better understanding of HIV/AIDS. In the workplace, it is aimed at human resource managers, line managers, supervisors, union representatives and other support staff.
